Making wax parts from scratch

In some cases, you can pour wax into simple molds to make rough parts. For example, accessories like a shield or environmental pieces like a figure stand.


Custom Figure Stand

1. Sketch out the design of your figure stand

2. Lay a piece of parchment paper on top of hard surface

3. Build a short wall of clay around the outline of the sketch

4. Remove your sketch paper

5. Pour melted wax into form

6. Insert a peg into the wax piece (or set ahead of time in the original mold)

7. Build up the desired texture and carve details

8. Test with your figure periodically to ensure the fit keeps it balanced.
